New MacBook Pro Now with Retina Display

The Apple WWDC 2012 was concluded yesterday.  Although a lot of people were anticipating the release of the iPhone 5, there was still some exciting tech tid bits that came out.  The most notable was the unveiling of the new MacBook Pro.

The latest update to the MacBook Pro laptop line now features the Retina display first started in the iPhone 4 and then on the new iPad.  The Retina display has 5.1 million pixels, according to Apple, that's 3 million pixels more than an HD TV.  Based on the video posted in the Apple website, with that high resolution, it almost seems impossible to actually see the individual pixels on screen, resulting to a very smooth and sharp display.

This new MacBook Pro also has a new architecture behind it, starting with an all Flash component architecture, with Flash, there will be no moving parts compared to a standard HDD which has rotating parts.  This makes it very efficient and very fast to retrieve files and access programs.  Aside from speed, Flash also makes the laptop very quiet even while retrieving large files or running complex applications.

The new MacBook Pro will come with an Intel i7 quad core processor, so you won't be short on processing power, from simple worksheets to editing complex photos and videos.

Add to the processor, the next generation NVIDIA graphics card and you will definitely have the most advanced, most powerful laptop yet.  According to Apple, this NVIDIA graphics card is 60% faster than any other laptop they have created.

Despite all this power, the new MacBook Pro still has up to 7 hours of battery life, that's almost twice the battery life of any existing laptop.

Ports also have the latest technology, the latest Firewire and USB 3.0.  The sound of the new MacBook Pro didn't go unnoticed, with Apple's new design, the sound will definitely be better than any existing laptop.

The major change on this latest MacBook Pro iteration is that it no longer includes a built-in optical disk drive.  I guess this is the direction where Steve Jobs wanted to go and Apple is continuing his legacy, wherein all content is stored in the cloud.

The new MacBook Pro starts at $1,199 or about P52,000.
