Introducing the Google Pixel Phone
Google recently concluded its Pixel Event in San Francisco last October 4. The Pixel event introduced Google's Pixel phone.
The Pixel phone will be available in 2 sizes, 5 inches and 5.5 inches. The 5 inch version will simply be called Pixel, while the 5.5 inch version will be Pixel XL. Both versions will have an AMOLED screen. The Pixel is said to have a standby time of up to 19 days and a call time of up to 26 hours with its 2,770 mAh battery, while the Pixel XL will have a standby time of up to 23 days and up to 32 hours talk time with its 3,450 mAh battery.
The main new feature with regards to the battery of the Google Pixel phone is its fast charging capability, charging the phone for only 15 minutes will give another 7 hours of use.
The Pixel is built using an Aerospace-grade aluminum body. Two colors are available, Quite Black and Very Silver.
Phone memory is 4GB of lightining fast LPDDR (low power double data rate) 4 RAM.
You can choose between 2 storage capacities, either 32GB or 128GB.
The processor powering the Pixel is a Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 821 (MSM8996 pro),
Quad Core 2x 2.15GHz / 2x 1.6GHz.
The rear-facing camera, one feature being highlighted by Google during the event is a 12.3MP Large 1.55μm pixels with phase detection autofocus + laser detection autofocus and has a f/2.0 aperture. According to Google, this camera has the highest rating ever on a smartphone, and Google has the specs to prove that, the camera on the Pixel has the best-ever 89 DxOMark Mobile score, Pixel's camera lets you take brilliant photos in low light, bright light or any light. The front camera on the other hand is an 8MP 1.4µm pixels camera with a f/2.4 aperture and fixed focus.
The Pixel is capable of shooting 4K video at 30 frames per second.
And since Google anticipates that you will be taking a lot of photos and videos with the Pixel, Google is offering unlimited cloud storage for Pixel owners.
Google is also including it's video calling app, Google Duo. One thing good about Google Duo is that it opens up to both iOS users and Android users, as long as they have the Google Duo app installed on either their iOS or Android phones, they will be able to communicate through Google Duo.
The Pixel will be run by the latest Android 7.1 Nougat operating system, with this operating system comes the Google Assistant, this will be the first phone which will have the Google Assistant ready upon release. The Google Assistant allows you to ask questions, manage your everyday tasks, translate on the go, help you with your travel needs and even find photos for you.
In it's bid to win over Apple customers, Google included an app in Pixel that will quickly transfer photos, imessages, calendar entries, videos, music and more from your iPhone or other Android devices to the Pixel.
The Google Pixel 32GB will cost $649, while the 128GB will cost $749.
The Google Pixel XL 32GB will cost $769, while the 128GB will cost $869.
Pre-orders will begin on October 13.
