New, Cheaper iMacs Released

Apple has just released new, cheaper iMacs.  The cheapest iMac now starts at $1099, that's $200 cheaper than the previous generation.  Of course there are sacrifices made to get to the $1099 price, the processor is only a 1.4Ghz dual-core chip.  The video card is the low-end Intel 5000 graphics compared to the previous Intel Iris Pro integrated graphics card.  Storage wasn't spared, it was cut in half from 1TB to 500GB.

The new $1099 iMac is probably being targeted to those who want a decent all in one machine, with the build quality and software of Apple.

With those specs, hard-core gaming is not possible but should be enough for basic computing needs like browsing the internet, occasional spreadsheet creation, editing and viewing and word processing.
