New Kindles Released
Today, Amazon announced the latest Kindle models which include an upgrade to the Kindle Fire and the upgrades to its Kindle eBook reader.
Three new Kindle Fires were announced, the Kindle Fire HD 8.9" 4G which is the top of the line and will sell for $499. As the name suggests, the Kindle Fire HD will have an 8.9" display, will have Dolby audio and dual stereo speakers. Just like what the New iPad and iPhone 4S have, the Kindle Fire is now equipped with 4G LTE wireless. The Wi-fi only model will also be available at $299. These models will be powered by a 1.5Ghz dual-core processor with Imagination PowerVR 3D graphics core. The Kindle Fire will now also come with a front facing camera.
The replacement of the first generation Kindle Fire is the Kindle Fire HD, still with a 7" screen but now with HD display, now also with Dolby Audio and dual stereo speakers and now comes with 16GB and 32GB storage. The Kindle Fire HD will still be $199 for the 16GB model and $249 for the 32GB model. The first generation Kindle Fire is still available for $169
The latest technology is now introduced with the Kindle Paperwhite, according to Amazon, there are 62% more pixels and contrast has been increased by 25% translating to whites being more white and blacks being blacker, therefore a clearer experience all together. The Kindle Paperwhite now has a built in front light, so no need for those lighting accessories anymore.
Even the basic Kindle reader has been updated with improved fonts and 15% faster page turns, according to Amazon. Price has been lowered to only $69.
The Kindle Paperwhite will be $179 for the 3G version, $119 for the wi-fi only version.
The new models are expected to ship by November 20 and Amazon is already accepting pre-orders.
