Today, Apple introduced the much rumored and much anticipated iCloud service.  What exactly is the Apple iCloud service?  In simple terms, the Apple iCloud service is a one stop shop where you could purchase or backup almost all types of media and applications.  In the iCloud, you can store or sync applications, media, calendars, documents and a lot more.

The iCloud was announced in today's WWDC keynote, by no less than Apple CEO Steve Jobs.  Through iCloud, users will be able to access different media and applications wirelessly on any iOS device, MAC or PC. Any song purchased in iTunes will now be automatically synced to other devices under that same account.

With the new Photo Stream, any picture uploaded to the cloud will automatically be available on all devices with Photo Stream installed.

Another interesting feature is that when you purchase an application regardless of which device, your application will automatically be available on your other devices.  Also, if you have purchased a new iOS device, you can now retrieve your old applications wirelessly through iCloud.

Aside from syncing, iCloud gives you the capability to backup your contacts and calendars in the cloud.  In the future, iOS upgrades can be done wirelessly, without even connecting to a Mac or a PC.

Once iCloud is made available this Spring, you will be given a free 5GB account and a free @me.com email address.
