iOS 4.3 came a week after the iPad 2 launch and was sort of launched by the iPad 2 itself since the iPad 2 came with iOS 4.3 installed. For those of you who haven't gotten their hands on the iPad 2 yet and are wondering what this latest iOS has to offer, here are the notable new functionalities:
Airplay enhancements - Airplay is Apple's technology that allows streaming of video, photos and music from your iDevice to your HDTV by using the Apple TV. With iOS 4.3, you can now stream videos from your Photos app so you can now shoot home videos and instantly share it with everyone in the room.
Faster Safari - Safari, the web browser that comes with iOS devices has now become faster, thanks to the new Nitro JavaScript engine which powers Safari. This new engine is said to be able to run JavaScript up to twice as fast as in the previous iOS 4.2. With a lot of interactive websites now coming out, the Nitro Javascript engine makes it more fun and quick to browse.
iTunes Home Sharing - This allows you to play your whole iTunes library from anywhere in the house. Whether your collection is on a Mac or a PC, as long as you have a Wi-Fi network you can instantly play content on your iDevice, without syncing. This is no longer limited to playing music, you can even play videos or podcasts.
The iPad side switch now becomes more flexible with iOS 4.3, you can now choose whether the switch will be for locking screen rotation or for muting the volume.
The iPhone 4 now becomes unselfish, with iOS 4.3, you can now share your internet connection with up to 5 devices. If there is no access to Wi-Fi but 3G is available, you can now broadcast wi-fi from your iPhone 4 to your different devices like your laptop or iPad, or any wi-fi capable device.
Unfortunately, iOS 4.3 will not be compatible with older devices like the first iPod touch and the second generation iPod touch.
